This page deals with the work on the rear end of the
chassis.
Firstly I fitted the Differential to the Sub Frame as
per the manual.
Then lined it up to the JBA chassis and fitted it.
This was fitted minus the rest of the Independant
Rear Suspention parts.
The IRS parts were next along with the rear springs
from the donor Sierra, the round spacers that were supplied in the kit are
now replaced with square spacers welded to the chassis by JBA.
Also added were the bump stops again from the
Sierra. The rear dampers were fitted and the drive shafts
connected to the Diff and hubs.
Above is how it looked from the front.
Next I fitted up the rear braking system, using new
drums and brake shoes and wheel cylinders and in the photo above you can
see the handbrake cable in position. ( supplied as an extra from JBA
)
I received the new Build Manual from JBA after I had
completed these tasks. However I shall have to do a modification to the
Spindle Carriers. This has to be drilled out and tapped to accept an M8
grub screw to secure the conversion bush. These grub screws are supplied
in the kit.

This Photo was taken after I fitted the
Grub Screw.
That's it between the bolt head on the left and where
the text is. |
I still have the brake and fuel piping to run and fit
the petrol tank which is slightly smaller than the tourer tank. At
the moment I am concentrating on the engine strip down.
But that is another story.
